Patient Testimonials

Trusted by Athletes and Active Adults Across Houston

Patient experiences reflect the precision, compassion, and evidence-based approach that define Dr. Brooks’ care.

“I have been a licensed physical therapist for the last 11 years, and have worked at a variety of outpatient/sports clinics. I currently own my own practice, which often requires me to refer out and collaborate with other providers. I have a short list of other medical providers that I work with, and Dr. Brooks is at the top of that list. He is kind, intelligent, collaborative, and most importantly - puts the patient first. It is very rare for providers to possess both the technical and communication skills that Dr. Brooks has. He is 1 of 1, and I consider him the best of allies in our healthcare system.”

What People Are Saying

“Before seeing Dr. Brooks, I was dealing with a knee injury that had me struggling with everyday movement. I chose him based on the strong reviews I'd read online, and he lived up to every one of them. From day one, he was straightforward about what recovery would look like and explained every step of the process clearly. His realistic outlook and great bedside manner made all the difference. If you're dealing with a sports injury and want a doctor who shoots straight with you, I highly recommend Dr. Brooks.”

“Before seeing Dr. Brooks, I had nagging ankle pain. I run competitive track, so I was looking for a doctor that would help provide me with a solution that both facilitated my recovery and allowed me to remain competing. You can’t do that with a doctor that is anything less than a great listener and cooperative partner. I felt like I was working with Dr Brooks to find that solution.  Long story short, we avoided surgery, and created a plan that got me through my season and on my way to full and sustainable recovery. Additionally, Dr Brooks and his team are great people.”

“As a physical therapist that works with athletes, I was so excited when I had the opportunity to connect with Dr. Brooks. A client of ours raved about her experience with him. How he took the time to listen to her story, then educated her about her injury and the prognosis. Dr Brooks is always quick to respond to any questions. Unlike many Doctors, he takes the time to uncover the root cause of the injury, not just look for a quick fix with a pill or injection. If you're an active person looking for a great Dr, look no further! ”

“I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Brooks as my team/school physician for my first 3-4 years in Cypress. It was always great having his intellect, experience, and professionalism on our sideline. Though we’re not professionally linked anymore, he still reaches out anytime one of my athletes sees him in clinic.”

‘I developed severe pain in my leg & hip area that was later diagnosed as “Calcifica tendonitis”.  A few doctors advised surgery but wanting to avoid surgery, I was able to find Dr. Brooks who was able to successfully remove the calcium with a less invasive procedure done at his office. He is a very good clinician and takes time to listen, then explains all the options available and answers any questions you might have. I am very pleased to report that I am currently pain free and able to enjoy all the activities I use to do before. If you are looking for a good doctor, I highly recommend Dr. Brooks & his team.’

When I suddenly lost the ability to use my right arm after a tennis match, I was terrified I had torn something in my shoulder. The pain and muscle spasms were unbearable, and even the opioid prescribed in the ER did nothing to relieve it. Dr. Jacel Brooks quickly identified the true cause, a large bone spur leading to calcific tendinitis; confirmed on X-ray, and treated with a steroid injection that immediately calmed the spasms. He then performed a minimally invasive, ultrasound-guided barbotage procedure, something only a select few physicians are skilled enough to do, and within two weeks I had nearly full range of motion and minimal pain. A few weeks later, I was back to playing sports, and as a sports physical therapist myself, I confidently refer my patients to Dr. Brooks because I’ve personally experienced the precision, expertise, and life-changing results of his care.

Dr. Jacel Brooks and I have known each other for over ten years. He is a very thorough physician with excellent clinical judgment. Just two years ago, I had him take a look at my son after a knee injury from running.

As a physical therapist who often manages patients through direct access care, I’ve referred several patients to Dr. Brooks because of the compassion and attention to detail he provides. He does an excellent job guiding patients through non-operative treatment options prior to considering orthopedic surgery and provides clear guidance to support their care.

I would highly recommend Dr. Brooks to anyone looking for a thoughtful orthopedic physician who prioritizes patient education and conservative treatment when appropriate.

If you’re dealing with glenohumeral joint osteoarthritis and want a non-surgical solution, I highly recommend Dr. Brooks. I referred my mother to him and, she spoke glowingly about him and his team. She said that he was very thorough in his evaluation and overall assessment of her shoulder pain, and that the corticosteroid injection that she received from him was a very pleasant experience.

Before seeing Dr. Brooks I struggled for over a year with plantar fasciitis. The exercises and night boot were just not working for me. Dr. Brooks recommended the PRP procedure. Totally worth it. After about 2 weeks I was pain free.

Before I met Dr.Brooks, I had sports hernia operation and everything went well, after couple month, I started having Discomfort in my abdominal area and it became difficult to do anything that had involved putting pressure on the Abdominal part, whether it was training, kicking, running. Trying to avoid surgery was the ideal plan, when I got recommended to meet Dr. Brooks, First off him and his Assistant Miss Aida were very welcoming and attentive and super respectful. Dr.Brooks first sat down with me, listened to my story and explained to me what was happening with the discomfort I was having and why it’s happening and what’s causing it and was very thorough,Dr.Brooks recommended to do Lidocaine injection followed with an ultra sound, it’s been almost 2 years since the treated me and I haven’t had discomfort since and I’m back doing what I love to do.
